On May 8, 2025, Hengerda New Materials (Fujian) Co., Ltd. completed the acquisition of German grinding machine manufacturer SMS Maschinenbau GmbH (“SMS”). This strategic move significantly accelerates Hengerda’s global expansion, adding overseas R&D and production capabilities. Through international synergy, this acquisition will enhance Hengerda’s innovation in core technologies and process solutions for intelligent CNC equipment. It substantially elevates the company’s overall technical expertise in industrial machine tools, particularly by providing cutting-edge technology to accelerate the development and industrialization of machine elements like ball screw and planetary roller screw pairs.

Since its establishment in 1995, SMS has been engaged in the research and manufacturing of high-precision profile grinding machines and thread grinding machines. Industrial machine tools include lathes, milling machines, boring machines, drilling machines, grinding machines, planing machines, and punching machines, etc. Among these, high-precision grinding machines pose the greatest technical challenge, representing the crown of the machine tool industry. Thread grinding machines are the brightest jewel within that crown, and SMS GmbH is globally recognized as a top-tier manufacturer of such thread grinding machines.The members of the company's technology research and development team come from renowned institutions and universities around the world, with deep technical accumulation and multiple core technical barriers. The machining accuracy, machining efficiency, and yield rate of our products have a good market reputation and technical recognition in the global market.

SMS’s products include: external thread grinding machine, internal thread grinding machine, worm grinding machine, internal and external gauge grinding machine, tap grinding machine, rotor grinding machine, rolling blade grinding machine, and gear grinding machine. They are widely used in grinding of ball screw pairs, planetary roller screws, rotors, precision worms, and precision gears, etc. Our clients include Sandvik from Sweden, EMUGE Werk from Germany, Hertwick from Germany, Fratelli Vergnano from Italy, Gleason from the United States, GZ AG/GSA from Switzerland, and Karl Hipp from Germany, etc.

Looking ahead, after acquiring SMS, on the one hand, Hengerda can fill the gap in domestic high-precision grinding machine technology, quickly shorten the gap in domestic high-precision grinding machine technology, and strengthen the national manufacturing industry chain.
